A Huge Sigh of Relief

This election made me nervous. I try to not get political in my drag life because I like to keep things fun, and politics is always a downer these days. However I have express my relief at the presidential results. I'm too tired now to look into the senate races but I'm hoping we didn't get screwed on that end of things as well.

I'm not just saying this for myself. Since my daughter's birth I worry about the world that she's coming into. With the republican party as a whole targeting women's rights and preying on fear of gays the idea of them coming into power scares me much more than it used to. Maybe it's that the party as a whole has just become scarier or maybe it's because I'm not just thinking of myself. I know I'm tough and I can take whatever they want to throw at me but I shouldn't have to worry that my baby girl will have few rights because of who came to power.

Again, I try to not get overly political because that's not who I am by nature. I'm a very live and let live type. And when it comes to fiscal conservatives, while I may not agree, I feel like I can have a conversation. Social conservatives however scare the ever loving shit out of me. I don't understand how you would want to wield the wonderful democracy of this country as a weapon to oppress a group you don't like. And given that most social conservatives are highly religious I have to ask: if you think people are going to hell for being gay/bi/trans/single mothers/etc then isn't that enough? If you really believe that God will punish these people later on then why do you feel the need to punish them yourself now?

Ok... that got a little ranty. But it's late, I'm tired and this stuff drives me nuts. For perhaps a more concise summary of my views see below:

Last Post?

Ok I'll get right to the point. I'm considering dropping the blog. Judging by the view tracking nobody is really reading this anymore. Now that in and of itself shouldn't be a reason to stop if I still have something to say. The problem honestly is me. This has just become a dumping ground for the videos I've been doing and I haven't been using it for anything other than that, and given that I have many more Youtube subscribers than followers here it feels redundant.

I have a hard time believing that there's anybody who's following me here who isn't also watching my Flickr photostream or Youtube channel or Deviant Art page or Tumblr account. And given the fact that there's nothing unique I'm doing with this blog I'm not given anybody a reason to follow it rather than those other sites I'm more active on. So unless I hear otherwise this will likely be the last post.

Don't panic I'm not deleting what's already here, that will stay up. And who knows I might change my mind and come back to this. But for the time being this is probably going to be goodbye.  Thanks to all who've been reading.

Happy Birthday to Me!

That's right, today's the day I graced the world with my presense and I intend to party it up. If you want to add to the fun and are feeling generous I hope you'll take a peak at my Amazon Wishlist. Anything purchased for me WILL be featured in a future photoshoot if that helps motivation at all.

I want to thank everybody who's helped make this a memorable birthday so far!  I hope to have my newest video up by the end of the weekend... but that's a hope not a promist.

Crossdressing Tips for Beginners #15: Picking a Name

What's in a name? Well quite a bit actually and odds are that most of you will go through a few different options before settling on one for ourselves. Here's a few things to keep in mind to help that process.

Crossdressing Tips for Beginners #14: Leg & Body Shaving

For the most part dressing is all about adding: adding make-up, wigs, tits, etc. However there are a few things we have to take away. There's that pesky bulge that I talked about earlier and then there's the annoyance of body hair. Here's some tips to hopefully make the latter chore a little smoother (sorry, couldn't resist the pun.)

Crossdressing Tips for Beginners #13: Voice

Pretty much all of these have been about how you look but there's another thing to take into account and that's how you sound. So with that in mind here are some hints on developing a more feminine voice. It's an important part of the overall effect so I hope this helps.

Here We Go Again

Everytime the latest social or artistic/photographic networking thing comes along I always tell myself that I'm not going to get involved with this one. And I always end up being wrong, at least for a little while. Google+, LinkedIn, and Twitter: all of these I swore I wouldn't sign up for and I've been wrong every time. Granted I pay attention to some more than others but that's neither here nor there.

So now I'm on tumblr: http://verawylde.tumblr.com/ This despite the fact that until I checked out the tumblr account of my friend Nic Buxom I didn't even really know what the deal with that site was. I still am not totally sure that I do, but I'm on it anyways for those who want to follow it. I'll mostly be uploading choice pictures and I hope to keep a pace of one every other day or so, we'll see if that lasts.

Crossdressing Tips for Beginners #12: Cleavage

Back again! And it occurred to me that when I covered breasts and the bustline before I didn't really address the issue of cleavage. It's no something you need to create for every outfit but sometimes it's really necessary to make the overall look work. So here you go!

Crossdressing Tips for Beginners #11: Tucking

Well it's a new year so with that in mind I think it's time for me to tackle the single more requested topic: tucking. I really wasn't sure that I was ever going to address this just because it's tricky to do without the video becoming overly explicit (sorry folks but I'm not going to actually SHOW you how to do it.) But I hope you all still find this helpful.

A Crossdressers Thoughts on ABC Show "Work It"

I'm going to warn folks up front that this might become a bit ranty, so those who don't do well with righteous indignation might want to skip out right now. The ABC network has recently rolled out a comedy called "Work It." The premise is that in the tough economy two straight men dress as women in order to land sales job at a company that was only looking for women.

Skipping past the fact that a company of any size which flat out tells an applicant that they won't be hired because of their gender would be sued into oblivion there's still plenty to hate. I take quite a few issues with this thing for what are probably going to be fairly obvious reasons. It falls into the exact same offensive pitfalls that nearly every "crossdressing comedy" falls into.

First it enforces the stance in pop culture that men dressed as women is something to laugh at. Of course they always take straight men and come up with some ridiculous circumstances that require them to cross dress. Because no rational man would ever put on a dress unless there were dire circumstances. Then there's all the cliches of learning make-up, how to walk, leg shaving, etc, etc and these aren't so much offensive as just horribly tired.

Now to be fair I haven't actually watched a full episode. I'm not that masochistic. To try and give this thing as fair a shake as I could stomach I did watch all of the preview clips that ABC made available. Supposedly these clips are the best stuff, the stuff that is supposed to make viewers want to see more. I'm sorry but if that's as good as it gets I'm NEVER going to sit through an episode of this.

From what I saw I actually think this might be more insulting to woman than to people of a transgendered persuation. I say this because it makes women look like the biggest idiots on the planet. There are plenty of dressers out there who are passable, however these two most definitely are not. I understand them making bad women is supposed to be funny. But not only is it not funny it makes all of the women around them who are fooled by this pathetic charade look mentally challenged.

I can only hope that the rating tank so badly that this show is pulled before the end of the spring season. Let it die quickly and quietly so I don't have to waste any more energy being angry about this shit.
